Lynnes Welding Training Scholarship
LWT has established the Lynnes Welding Training Scholarship with the AWS Foundation, Inc. That scholarship is open from December 1st and closes on May 1st for the next Award Year. Check with either LWT location for the application and requirements.

AWS Scholarships
The American Welding Society offers multiple scholarship funds that, once awarded, are payable directly to the school to which you have been accepted. It will cover the cost of tuition, books, supplies and related institutional costs.
To apply for an AWS District Scholarship, follow these simple steps.
- Go to aws.org
- Click on education, click on scholarships.
- Click on First time user to register for a profile. (You can watch the On-Demand Webinar to find out more about the application process.)
- Steps:
- Register for a Profile. Use an email address you will still be able to access in 18 months.
- Create an Academic Profile, which includes your personal statement and career objectives.
- Find out which scholarships you are eligible for based on your academic profile and geographic location and click to apply.
- Provide references and any required documentation to complete your applications.
Applications open December 1st for the next award year, which runs July 1st-June 30th.
Deadline to apply for National, District, and Section Scholarships is March 1st.
May-June Selections are made for National and District Scholarships.
May-July Selections are made for Section Scholarships.
District Scholarships: Each of AWS’s 22 Districts has a pool of $15,000.00 to award to students residing or attending school within the District boundaries.
Section Scholarships: Many AWS Sections have scholarships funded by local members, companies, and donors designated for students in the Sections. Scholarships range from $1,000-$3,000+.

AmericanTrucks is offering four scholarships to currently enrolled students (including high school seniors) who are working on a post-secondary education, covering $2,500 of their schooling costs. NDACo College Scholarship Fund – The NDACo scholarship program was created in 1998 to assist county families afford college. Children and grandchildren of county officials and employees are eligible to apply. This fund offers six $2,000 awards. The Jessi Combs Foundation Scholarship Program is designed to remove a portion of the financial burden associated with higher education, one of many barriers that could prohibit women from pursuing a career in the trades. The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and The Sallie Mae Fund are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students an accredited post-secondary institution. T4 Tools Trades Torque Tech Scholarship T4 is offering a scholarship to seniors that participated in the T4 Tools Trades Torque Tech Program. Scholarships are in the amount of $500.00. Fisher Welding Training Scholarship Fisher Industries in Dickinson, ND is proud to offer a scholarship to a local senior, within 50 miles of Dickinson, to the Bismarck LWT location. The amount depends on which course is taken by the student, either 200 Hour Gas Metal Arc Skills Course or 480 Hour Combination Welder I Program. ND Indian Scholarship
- Scholarship amounts up to $2000.00.
- Apply with the NDUS by July 15th for priority consideration.
- Requires min. enrollment of 12 semester hours (450 clock hours equivalent).
- ND resident and enrolled members of federally recognized Indian tribe.
- Minimum GPA requirement is 2.00 for need-based, or 3.50 for merit-based.
- FAFSA required for need based.
- Awards are issued by the ND Indian Scholarship Board generally in July.

MN Indian Scholarship
- Scholarship amounts up to $4000.00.
- Are one-fourth or more American Indian ancestry OR an enrolled member or citizen of a federally-recognized American Indian tribe or Canadian First Nation
- Are a Minnesota resident
- Apply for other existing state and federal scholarship and grant programs
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Are not in default on a federal or state student loan or, if in default, have regained eligibility for federal or state student aid
- Qualify for either a Pell or State Grant and demonstrate financial need as an undergraduate student OR demonstrate financial need as a graduate student

ND Academic or ND CTE Scholarships
- Students apply and qualify in high school. No annual application is required.
- Requires “full time” enrollment as required for financial aid disbursements.
- Max disbursement is $500 per term.
- Must maintain minimum GPA (or equivalent) and cumulative credits (or equivalent)
- Note that students have up to 6 years following high school graduation to use the full amount of the award, so it’s not just for new freshmen.

Dual-Credit Tuition Scholarship
If you attended a NDUS Institution before enrolling at LWT and took a dual-credit course while in High School this scholarship may be for you!
This scholarship rewards college students for taking dual-credit coursework as a high school student. To qualify, student must have graduated from a high school in ND, or a high School in a bordering state covered under state law (N.D.C.C. 15.1-29), or have graduated from a nonpublic high school in bordering state while residing with a custodial parent in this state, or have completed a program of home education under N.D.C.C.15.1-23; and have completed at least one dual-credit course provided by a NDUS Institution while enrolled in high school or a program of home education; and be currently enrolled at an institution of high education in ND; and have completed at least one semester, quarter, or term at an institution of high education in the state.
