Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW-Stick) Stick Welding
Course Description:
The Shielded Metal Arc Welding course is designed to teach welders about arc welding safety and the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process. This course will last five weeks involving approximately 30 hours of booth instructions, and 10 hours of lecture and practice.
Course Contents:
- Learn fundamentals of SMAW.
- Welding is done on 11 ga. And 3/8” mild steel plate.
- Problems associated with welding situations and how to correct them.
- Welding symbols.
- Oxy-Acetylene safety and hands on cutting.
- Electrode selection.
Course Objective:
Each student will have an understanding of how the SMAW process works and able to perform a fillet weld in all positions with a 6010 and 7018 electrode. At the completion of the course each student will receive a certificate.
